The first stop in our Christmas road trip was South Louisiana for the annual Mhire Christmas celebration. It was Olivia's first time to meet many of her Mhire great aunts and second cousins and I'm embarrassed by the number of pictures I took, which unfortunately was virtually none.
We had a great time there. As usual, Jack enjoyed helping Poppy at the farm. Gigi spoiled everyone by ensuring we were all well-fed, comfortable and well taken care of. Even in Louisiana, Betsy the elf managed to find us each morning. For breakfast one morning, Gigitried out this adorable Pinterest creation - love these Rudolph pancakes with bacon antlers, a raspberry nose and chocolate and whipped cream eyes!
Jack was a little hesitant on Angel the pony when he visited in the summer, but Poppy tried again. A little colder, but much more successful. Poppy was happy that he may have a horse rider after all!
Those were the only pictures I took - three lonely little iPhone pictures. Sad. Luckily, Tom took a few more pictures with his phone that he was nice enough to send me. Here's cute Livi getting kisses from her Daddy:
Tommy's Nanny Liz's hosted everyone once again for the annual family Christmas dinner. A few family members were missing this year, but it was still wonderful to celebrate with those who were there. I can't remember if this was Poppy's hat or Popop's hat, but Jack decided it looked pretty good on him:

Finally, I had completely forgotten about this until Tom sent me this picture. This is Pete. Pete showed up on the farm while we were visiting. Tom and Greta knew they didn't need a new dog, but those eyes are hard to resist. We knew we had to find Pete a good home. All of the no-kill shelters in Lafayette were full, and another type of shelter just wasn't an option, so Pete stayed at the farm until he found a forever home in Dallas, where he now lives with a family with 3 young kids. Tom had gotten very attached and it was bittersweet to let him go, but we were all happy that there was such a happy ending!
