May - October 2012
As I flip through all of our photos to document all of the "blog-worthy" events that have happened, I pass by so many pictures that don't fit with whatever event I'm currently blogging about. Most are taken with our phones. Tommy can attest that mine is pretty much attached to my hand. Anyway, when you put all of those pictures together, you start to get a better picture of what our every day life is like. At least as much as the photos of all the special occasions, I know I will look back fondly on these photos, remembering the everyday smiles, giggles, and moments that just become part of life.
These pictures span the time from when we brought Livi home from the hospital to October - a time when we were readjusting to live with very little sleep and adjusting for the first time to being a family of four. For the first four months of this time, I was home on maternity leave with Livi, so I took lots of pictures of my new little girl. I call this series "the many faces of Olivia" :)

Hanging out on the play-yard, staring at the dangly stuffed animals above here. I don't think I'll ever forget the glowing, musical butterfly - between Jack and Olivia, I can't even count how many times I kicked that play yard and made the butterfly play that silly song:

Don't worry we haven't forgotten about Jack, he was still busy being his goofy self, and learning how to be the best big brother ever. I love how he's holding her hand in this one.
There are so many funny things about this picture. His poor little hurt wrist isn't funny, but he stuck a sticker on it, put a glove on his other hand, which is holding a cookie. Top it all off with the "cool dude" sunglasses and you have quite the stylish look:
Another stylish look - the fireman suit at daycare. He would only wear the fireman hat backwards, so it looks kind of like a cowboy hat here:

Even for the big boy, having so much fun is tiring work!
I may have mentioned that one of the hardest parts of becoming a parent for me was the lack of sleep. The early mornings are really tough for Tommy and I, especially on the weekend, when we were used to sleeping in to catch up on lost sleep during the work week. The kids, on the other hand, always wake up smiley and ready to play. Seeing smiles like this almost makes those early mornings worth it:
It's hot in the summertime in Texas. Olivia and Poppy beat the heat by taking a nap before they headed to the pool:

Spending time indoors was also good during the summer heat. Jack and Daddy took a ride on the carousel at our local mall:
A picnic seemed like a fun plan, so we packed a picnic lunch and headed to a nearby park. Unfortunately, in the 100+-degree Texas heat, afternoon picnics are not nearly as much fun as they oringinally sound. All of the playground equiment was too hot to play on, but we hung out in the shade and ate our yummy food.

Fast forward a few months to October. Both of my babies helped me decorate a cake for Daddy's 35th birthday. Jack loved using the little tubes of gel icing to draw some very cool pictures:
While Livi preferred to try to eat the bottle of sprinkles:
It isn't always glamorous, but this is our life. I feel so lucky to be living it every day!!
